With new updates coming to the game on a near-weekly basis, there is always something to look forward to. The Illuminate Are Set To Come To Helldivers 2
It has been rumored for some time that The Illuminate are set to come to Helldivers 2 as the third faction alongside the Automatons and Terminids. So far, The Illuminate hasn’t appeared, but a new leak has revealed textures relating to the faction being discovered in the Helldivers 2 files. This new texture is a portal that The Illuminate will use to spawn onto the planet, similar to the Fabricators and bug holes that are in the game currently. Players will then need to destroy these to stop The Illuminate from spawning. Textures for the enemies have also been discovered but are said to be in an early state so it will likely be a few months before the new faction comes to the game.
Melee Weapons Could Come To Helldivers 2
Helldivers 2 Community Manager Twinbeard has discussed the possibility of melee weapons coming to the game. Art for Helldivers 2 originally included bayonets and energized sabers, and Twinbeard has stated that melee weapons “might still happen.” There is a melee button in Helldivers 2 but it isn’t viable to hit an enemy with your weapon unless it’s a last resort. But, a dedicated melee weapon that does more damage could make it incredibly fun to charge into a horde and enemies and start swinging.

Star Wars may be set in a galaxy far far away, but it could potentially come to Super Earth in the future. Collaborations and video games seem to go hand in hand these days, with games such as Fortnite and Call of Duty seeing many crossovers and popular characters from other IPs come to the games. The Helldivers 2 Community Manager Twinbeard did discuss the possibility of a collaboration with Star Wars, noting that the collaboration would “have to make sense.” Twinbeard did state that Lightsabers wouldn’t come to the game as they wouldn’t fit with the style of the game.

With Lucasfilm and the Star Wars IP now being owned by Disney, could this also open the door for a Marvel collaboration? And, with Disney having an equity stake in Epic Games, could we see Helldivers be turned into Fortnite skins? If Arrowhead Game Studios opens itself up to collaborations there are many great possibilities that fans would like to see.
Over in Fortnite, we are due to see a Star Wars x Fortnite crossover in May. With Helldivers 2 rapidly gaining popularity, it’s only a matter of time, we think, before such a crossover will happen.
Fire Is Finally Going To Be Nerfed
Fire has become the bane of our lives when it comes to Helldivers 2. A recent update buffed fire damage to an ungodly amount, with it now almost instant-killing players. Whether you’re being hit by a Tank, getting trapped by a fire tornado, or even using your own flamethrower, fire is the biggest threat to Helldivers right now.
Thankfully, Arrowhead Game Studios has said that fire will be nerfed in a future update. There is no information regarding when this change will be added, but the developers have previously made changes to the game based on feedback very quickly, so we will likely see this change sooner rather than later. There is also confirmation from the CEO that there will be further changes as part of the Helldivers 2 roadmap, although details here are thin on the ground.
