Job overview

Children’s Speech and Language Therapy Team South is a forward-thinking integrated team providing paediatric therapy services to children and families across Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre. We currently have opportunities for a Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly and supportive paediatric team on a full time/part time basis. This role is also suitable for current Speech and Language Therapy students who are due to qualify in the coming months.

Main duties of the job

You will have opportunities to develop and maintain your paediatric therapy skills with the support of a well-established paediatric SLT team. We have a strong commitment to working collaboratively with all appropriate agencies to provide the highest standard of care to paediatric patients and their families.

You will be required to work flexibly when required to provide cover during periods of maternity leave, recruitment or long-term sickness absence.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will offer speech and language therapy management from community clinic, and/or school locations as required. Working with children and young people with a range of speech, language and communication difficulties from 0-19. The post requires you to work with both other members of the speech and language therapy team and a range of other professionals.

Essential criteria
  • Honours Degree or equivalent in Speech and Language Therapy
  • Registered member of HCPC
Desirable criteria
  • Registered member of RCSLT

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Range of paediatric experience
  • Experience of undertaking initial assessments
  • Experience in using a range of assessment tools (formal & informal
  • Experience in the diagnosis, treatment & general management of a wide range of speech, language & communication difficulties across the 0 -18 years age range
  • Experience in developing high quality, outcome-focussed care plans in conjunction with parents.
  • Experience in supporting and advising parents / carers & other professionals re: strategies to help children with communication difficulties
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of both group and individual therapy treatment
  • Experience of developing Individual Education Plans and attending SEN Review Meetings
  • Experience of delivering training to others (parents or professionals)
  • Experience of providing advice for Education, Health & Care Plans
