At HBCU Prep School, we’re on a mission to bring empowering and authentic stories of the Black experience into homes and classrooms everywhere!
Today is Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day. Many students walked to school wearing purple to remember the days she spent walking to school under escort. The irony is the police were there by order of the governor to keep her out. The president sent her with an escort to ensure she made it in. This is Black history. This is American history!

Only 60+ Years ago...Let us Never forget 🙏🏾
I remember viewing this scene on Black & White TV, as a young child. It was a chilling scene seeing White people call out the "N" word and threatening violence. Moreover, this was the same scene I experience on TV in NYC being transferred across town to a White High with White people chanting during the summer of 1965 busing act, "N" people don't belong at our school! Unfortunately, American history is repeating itself again. Dr. E. B. Flournoy, Ph.D.
My dissertation was dedicated to Ruby Bridges - her bravery is a prime factor in my being able to obtain an education on a doctoral level!! I will forever be grateful to Ms. Bridgers and her family/

Facts: Ruby Bridges is still alive, as are many of her terrorizers. They are in their 60s and 70s. This wasn't hundreds of years ago, it was just over 60 years ago.

This was not the first fight. Each school was a fight. Each person who made the fight were tormented and deprived for education for years. Reading the fights that the NAACP, LDF, and Constance Baker Mottley, who was discrimated against herself, fills in gaps in my education. But less than 40 years ago, women still needed men to co-sign on bank loans. Thank you for posting.
I remember this dayI also remember the riots in Detroit Michigan We all need to just accept people for who they are
