KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- As students and parents work to navigate virtual school, Kanawha County Schools will take to the airwaves to help everyone understand best practices.
KCS announced Thursday that they’ve put together a Schoology TV program that will walk parents and guardians through the set-up process.
It will be available on Suddenlink Channel 17, which is KCS-TV beginning Monday, Sept 14 at 7:16 p.m.
According to a Tweet from KCS:
It will continue to be aired Tuesday-Friday (Sept. 15-18) at both 7:16 a.m. and 7:16 p.m. each day, along with Sunday the 20th at 7:16 a.m. and 7:16 p.m. As a reminder, there are digital Schoology videos available on our website now.
Schoology is like a teacher's website or an extension of their classroom online. Announcements, special dates, pictures, newsletters, discussions, lessons, videos, etc. could all be on a teacher's Schoology page. Students are enrolled in Schoology by the school through our PowerSchool, student information system.
Kindergarten age requirement is met when the child will be age 5 by July 1 of the current program year. Maximum age requirement is met when the child is not yet age 19 on July 1 of the current program year.
Compared to other LMS, Schoology's customization options for the visual design of courses may be relatively restricted. Though Schoology offers multiple pricing plans, some educational institutions might find the cost of premium features prohibitive.
Schoology itself can't really catch you red-handed while cheating. It's more like a study hall monitor than a detective. But it does have a built-in plagiarism checker, which is basically a fancy tool to see if you copied stuff from somewhere online. That can help teachers flag suspicious tests.
