Outer Banks received a season 4 renewal days before new episodes debuted on Netflix — and the adventure is just getting started.
Before season 3 premiered in February 2023, the cast confirmed there would be more episodes while celebrating the show at a fan event. That same month, creators Jonas Pate, Josh Pate, and Shannon Burke hinted that the mystery at the center of the show is far from over.
“The Pogues are enjoying an adventure of a lifetime, and we now get to map out more twists and turns as the joyride continues into season four of Outer Banks,” the showrunners said in a February 2023 statement. “Thank you to Netflix, our cast, and the amazing fans who helped to make this happen.”

The next chapter will pick up after the Pogues leave the deserted island — only to get wrapped up in an even riskier hunt for El Dorado.
Cline teased the future of the show during an interview with Today in February 2023, saying, "I don’t think it’s going to be the last. I think there's more of the story to be told.”

Who Will Guest Star on Season 4?
In February 2024, Variety revealed that the Netflix hit series cast five recurring guest star roles for season 4.

Anthony Crane will portray Chandler Groff, a grief-stricken man dealing with the loss of his wife, while Pollyanna McIntosh will appear as Dalia, a revolutionary-like leader who comes face to face with the Pogues. Brianna Brown will play Hollis Robinson, the biggest realtor on the island, who previously worked with Ward Cameron in a successful business deal — and now has her eye on Rafe for a new venture. Mia Challis will be Ruthie, a wild child with a toxic streak who develops a close relationship with Topper. Rigo Sanchez will portray Lightner, an imposing stranger and calculating outdoorsman who will test the Pogues.

How Will John B and Sarah's Relationship Evolve
“Anytime you experience loss, it hits in spaces and in places that you don't anticipate,” Stokes told People in April 2024 about John B and Sarah's upcoming journey. “Being in the situation that John B and Sarah are in, it really will force them to evaluate everything. Where they are, what their purpose is, what their intentions are, and what was the actual value of it? Was it worth it, in hindsight? If they could go back and change things, would they? Or do they feel okay with it?”
Stokes noted that the Pogues will all be dealing with self-doubt in season 4.
“It's been a huge, huge shift in lifestyle in a very, very short period of time if you look at the actual timeline of the show,” he added. “And I think when you go through that level of trauma, for sure, it'll make you start asking those deeper questions.”
According to the actor, the newest season of the show is one of his "favorite seasons yet," adding, "The writers talked about how there was a real want for a lot of the authenticity and the characters in season 1. So I will say that they do a good job this season of that.”
